If you’re a homeowner in Gulfport, Florida — or nearby areas like St. Petersburg, South Pasadena, Treasure Island, or Pasadena Golf Club Estates — and you’ve spotted water where it doesn’t belong, don’t panic! A sudden water leak might feel like a disaster, but at I Find Leaks, we’re here to find the source fast — without unnecessary damage or guesswork.
This job started like many others in Gulfport, near the Gulfport Marina area. The homeowner noticed something strange: water leaking out of a floor electrical outlet. Fearing a slab leak, they reached out to us.
Luckily, Tyler from I Find Leaks was on it — and what he uncovered was unexpected.
⚠️ The Initial Panic: Water from the Floor Outlet?
The call came in from a Gulfport homeowner living near 49th Street S. The issue? Water was coming up from an electrical outlet built into the living room floor. These outlets are common in homes with powered recliners or couch charging stations — but obviously, water and electricity are never a good mix. 💥
FLIR infrared image showing the floor outlet shifted to the side and water visibly pooling in the hole.
A close-up of the outlet, filled with water and spreading across the tile floor.
The outlet kept tripping the breaker, and the family feared the worst — a slab leak under the home. But Tyler knew better than to assume.
🧰 Step 1: FLIR Infrared Investigation
Tyler used his FLIR infrared thermal imaging camera to start the investigation. His first stop? The surrounding areas — especially the kitchen island, located just a few feet from the outlet.

Another infrared image confirming moisture in the drywall beneath the kitchen sink.
A wider shot of the kitchen island showing clear long-term water damage in the wall cavity.
This wasn’t just a tiny drip — the wall was completely saturated, and the FLIR images showed it had likely been wet for quite some time. The water was definitely on top of the slab, not under it. So where was it coming from?
🔧 Step 2: Zeroing in on the Dishwasher
Directly opposite the wet wall was the dishwasher. Tyler removed only the base plate — no jackhammer, no tiles broken — and found the culprit.
Image showing the underside of the dishwasher where the leak was actively dripping.
The dishwasher had a slow, steady leak, and the water was dripping onto the bare concrete slab where no tile had been installed. From there, it traveled silently under the thin-set mortar, along the top of the slab, until it reached the floor outlet — where it pooled and eventually seeped through.
This hidden water path mimicked the signs of a slab leak — but thanks to Tyler’s tools and expertise, the real leak was found without unnecessary destruction.
💡 The Big Lesson: Not Every Leak Means a Slab Leak
This job is a perfect example of why professional leak detection in Gulfport is so important. Had another contractor come in, they might have gone straight to breaking concrete — wasting time, money, and causing unnecessary damage.
Instead, our non-invasive approach, years of experience, and cutting-edge tech meant we solved the mystery quickly and cleanly. 💯
